EAT, WRITE, DIGEST: Bursting with Distractions

Every leaf, bud, branch, bursting seed, and bird chirp has become a distraction.

I’m worse than my dogs, who bark at all the now unfiltered noises that go with opened windows. I can hear the wind chimes on my deck once more, know when my neighbors mow their lawns.

When I traveled far from Minnesota during the month of April, I was afraid I would miss that crucial moment when the Minnesota landscape stirs, yawns, stretches, and wakes. But I didn’t miss as much as I thought I might; it’s a long process here where snow can still surprise us during May.

And so this morning, I relished the chance to be outside, checking on all the erupting life.

This is spring, soon to morph into summer.

Enjoy your distractions, whatever they are.
