New Chapbook: How We Learned to Shut Our Own Mouths
Today, I'm celebrating the release of my poetry chapbook, How We Learned to Shut Our Own Mouths, published by Gyroscope Press.
This chapbook came together largely over the past year, influenced by the pandemic, the George Floyd killing, and the waning days of the Trump administration. It was also influenced by the undiminished hope I find in family and friends, in nature, and in simply paying attention. The cover art was created by my son, the Minneapolis-based artist Dalsen. Editing, layout and design were done by Constance Brewer of Gyroscope Press.
To purchase a copy of How We Learned to Shut Our Own Mouths, visit my author page at Gyroscope Press here: https://www.gyroscopereview.com/gyroscope-press/kathleen-cassen-mickelson/ or go straight to Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/How-Learned-Shut-Our-Mouths/dp/1736782002. The book is available in paperback or e-book formats.
In honor of National Poetry Month and my chapbook's release, I've recorded a reading of selected poems from the book. Enjoy.
