Poems in December Issue of Anti-Heroin Chic
I have two poems of my own to tell you about today: My Poem About Worship and On My Mother’s Birthday (haibun), both published in the December issue of Anti-Heroin Chic.
My Poem About Worship came out of a prompt I liked in St. Paul poet Deborah Keenan’s little book of writing prompts, From Tiger to Prayer (broadcraft press, 2013). Keenan was one of my teachers when I was in graduate school at Hamline University in St. Paul back in the 1990s and it delights me that I can still credit her with nudging my writing into a better place.
On My Mother’s Birthday was truly written on my mom’s birthday a couple of years ago, and it felt preordained that it should be offered to the world now, around the 20th anniversary of her death.
If you’d like to read these poems, you can find them HERE. Check out the entire issue of Anti-Heroin Chic HERE. There are many good pieces included in this issue; I’m positive you’ll find something to love. And when you do, please share it.
